Travel Tuesday: Hidden Gems of Europe

I guess I've been living under a rock, because it was only yesterday that I discovered T Magazine's fabulous Eurofile. The column by Alexander Lobrano began last June and follows the author's travels throughout Europe as he samples all the food and fun that each country has to offer. Lobrano includes several exhaustively researched articles on French food and hotels, but for travelers looking for the next undiscovered gem, be sure to check out his feature on the Spanish resort town Sitges. Located a half-hour from Barcelona, beach-goers seeking the beauty of St. Tropez minus the flash flock here to enjoy unparalleled seafood and sunsets.

If you're itching to try an off the map ski town, be sure to read Lobrano's piece on the High Tatras in Slovakia. Not convinced? According to some, "the Tatras are the most beautiful place in Europe. The Alps are like an old man's teeth. The Tatras are sharp, intense and wild." Untouched, unlike most of the Western Europe ski resorts, the Tatras are for the true thrill-seekers. But fear not, modern updates abound including the newly renovated Grand Hotel Kempinski that keep the luxury high and the costs low.
